Playing Favorites: The Ever-Growing List of Things I Like

What reader doesn’t keep a log of his or her favorite reads? Here’s mine. I’m sure that it’s going to grow rapidly as more and more books not only cross my path, but also float up through my memories. But, for now, this is my list (in no particular order):

  • Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
  • Valiant, by Holly Black (as well as Tithe, and Ironside, her other Modern Faerie Tales)
  • The Harry Potter series, by J.K. Rowling
  • The Lord of the Rings trilogy, by J.R.R. Tolkien
  • A Spell for Chameleon, by Piers Anthony
  • Neverwhere, by Neil Gaiman
  • On a Pale Horse, Piers Anthony
  • Ender’s Game, by Orson Scott Card
  • The Thief of Always, by Clive Barker
  • The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald
  • Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, by Jonathan Safran Foer
Short Stories:
  • Geektastic: Stories from the Nerd Herd, edited by Holly Black and Cecil Castellucci
  • Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, by Tom Stoppard
  • A Midsummer Night’s Dream, by William Shakespeare
  • Homer’s Odyssey, by Gwen Cooper

As I’m sure you can tell, I have a bit of a penchant for the fantastic. But I’ve recently discovered how enjoyable nonfiction or realistic fiction, and I’m starting to consider reading more along those genres.

Again, I’d love any suggestions for books to check out!
